CALLS FOR PARTICIPATION
ASIS&T 2010 Annual Meeting
Pittsburgh, PA, Oct. 22-27
Types of Submissions
A Day of Special Themes
Workshops will be held on Wednesday, October 27th, the final day of the conference, a day devoted to themed topics. Workshops combine several past ASIST events including the pre-conference SIG events.
The purpose of a workshop is to provide a more informal setting for the exchange of ideas on a focused topic and suggest directions for future work. As such, they offer a good opportunity for researchers and professionals to present and discuss their work among a targeted and interested community. Workshops may be mini-focused research presentations, a series of working events, brainstorming and idea sharing, or even teaching/learning a new skill.
In particular, SIGS are invited to submit proposals for half-day or full-day events on topics that are pertinent to the goals of the SIG.
Format of submission
Workshop proposals must be formatted according to the instructions provided in the sample template
(asist2010pubsformat.doc) and be no more than three pages.
Submissions for workshops should include:
a) workshop title
c) moderator and presenters
d) intended audience
e) the concept behind the workshop, i.e., its purpose and its topic; describe in a 100-200 words.

by midnight, May 31, 2010 (Hawaii Standard Time).
Workshops will be assessed for relevance to ASIST, the anticipated interest in the topic and activities, the quality of the submission, and the availability of appropriate facilities.
Accepted workshops will be notified by June 15, 2010. Workshop moderators will have an opportunity to modify and update the description and resubmit by August 2, 2010.
Note: We anticipate that the moderator and presenters of this workshop will be attending the event and will have registered for the conference by the early registration date, or the submission will be removed from the program.
