Director-at-Large, K.T. Vaughan
KT Vaughan is the Pharmacy Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the UNC-CH School of Pharmacy. She holds the MSLS from UNC-CH (2001) and an ABcl (Biology) from Harvard University (1997). With colleagues in the UNC School of Information and Library Science and the School of Pharmacy she studies the information behaviors of scientists and clinicians, technology use in libraries and education, scholarly communication and publishing issues, and outreach and integration roles for sci/tech/med librarians.
KT joined ASIS&T in 1999 as a student member, and has been active in many areas of the society since then. She has served as an officer of SIG/STI and the SIG Cabinet; member and chair of the Constitution & Bylaws Committee; member and/or chair of several DASER planning committees; member of SIG BWP, the Leadership Development Committee, and the 2004 Annual Meeting Program Committee; and currently as Chair of the SIG Cabinet (2007-2009). She has organized and/or moderated a panel sponsored by SIG/STI at eight consecutive annual meetings. In 2005 she was awarded the James M. Cretsos Leadership Award, in large part for her work with SIG/STI. KT is interested in strengthening several areas of SIG life, including communication within and among SIGs, recruitment and retention of members in SIGs, and streamlining and codifying procedures for SIG management.
