We are four undergraduate students in the Department of Information Management of Peking University in China. We participated in ASIS&T conference at Seattle this November, to present our poster work on time constraint and task type effects on users’ search behaviors, coauthored with our advisor, Dr. Chang Liu. This was our first time to go abroad and attend an international academic conference, and it was fantastic. We were very excited to get this opportunity to share our research with professors and students from all over the world, and to visit a new and wonderful city and to experience new culture.
During the conference, we attended several sessions about Information Behavior, learning about what scholars have been doing recently in this field, which gave us much inspiration. We also attended featuring poster presentation session and presented our poster work. We were very pleased to receive a lot of attention to our research from the audience, and their questions and comments made us to think over our research process and inspirations for further data analysis. During the poster session, we got the chance to communicate with many famous and distinguished professors and students about their recent research, which broadened our view and improved our understanding of this fast-developing field. Seattle is a really beautiful city. We visited some of the cultural sights and tasted unique cuisine in Seattle.
We felt very lucky and grateful for the chance to attend this conference, where we expanded our vision and learned a lot in academic level. We would like to take the chance to express sincere thanks to all the people who helped us and gave us this precious chance.
