The ASIS&T 2018 Student Design Competition brief has been released!

Are you a student? Do you want to win free registration to ASIS&T 2019 in Melbourne? Make sure you register your team HERE by midnight Sunday 11th November 2018. We encourage you to form a new team if you can (recommended size 3, with a maximum of 2 students from the same institution). But if you need to join an existing team, HERE are the people who have already signed up. Many team members are likely to be at the Student Reception (17.00-18.00 on Sunday, November 11th)

The Challenge

You will be presented with a design prompt related to the conference theme. In self- chosen teams (all members must be full or part-time students) you will be provded the details at the Student Design planning session at 10:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 (see schedule for room details). For this prompt, your team will design and present a prototype tool intended to help a specific user community.

Your prototype can be drawn neatly on paper, or produced using a digital wireframing tool such as Balsamiq (see free Web demo:https://webdemo.balsamiq.com) or iPhone mockups (http://iphonemockup.lkmc.ch). You will present and answer questions about your prototype to a panel of industry and academic leaders in information science at 10.30-11.30 on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 (see schedule for room details).

The judging panel will rank the presentations based on the following four criteria to determine the winning team(s):

1.Prototype NOVELTY

2.USEFULNESS of prototype to selected user community

3.Prototype DESIGN QUALITY

4.PRESENTATION quality

The design challenge chairs will not take part in the ranking discussion or decision. The winning team will be announced at the end of the presentation. All teams will be provided feedback from the judging panel.
