Privacy Statement

Thank you for visiting the website of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and reviewing our privacy statement. ASIS&T is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, donors, customers, and other contacts. Our privacy policy is clear:  We will collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us.

Any information you choose to provide on the website will only be used to provide or improve services. ASIS&T guards your privacy and appreciates your trust.

E-mails and Web Forms

Personally identifying information that you provide by e-mails, web forms or by any other means will be used only for such purposes as are described at the point of collection (for example on a web form), such as to update your membership or to record or respond to your questions or comments. If you provide contact information, ASIS&T staff or its contractors may contact you to clarify your comment or question, or to learn about your level of customer satisfaction with our services.

Any credit card information you provide for goods or services is secure and used only for your intended purpose.  Specifically, all credit card payment transactions are processed through an independent third party service provider.  That entity is solely responsible for all financial transactions and the collection, use, storage and disposal of the personal information you disclose during the transaction, including but not limited to your name, address and credit card information.  ASIS&T does not collect or receive credit card or other online payment information.

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

During your visit as you browse through the web site, read pages, or download information, we will automatically gather and store certain non-personal information about your visit.  Non-personal information is traditionally data that may not directly identify or enable contact of a specific individual, such as an Internet Protocol (“IP”) address or mobile device unique identifier, particularly if that data is de-identified (meaning it becomes anonymous).  Aggregated information is also classified as non-personal information because an individual person cannot be identified.

We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors and to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. The data that are collected are not connected to your personal information or identity.

Links to Other Sites

This website contains links to other sites. ASIS&T is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, which may be different from the privacy practices described in this policy. We encourage you to become familiar with privacy practices of other sites you visit, including linked sites.

We reserve the right to change or modify this privacy statement at any time. If we revise our privacy statement, we will post those changes on the homepage and other places so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.

1 The term “members and customers” as used in this statement includes ASIS&T members, customers, donors, or any individual or organization having contact or conducting transactions with the Association.
