Curran (1928-1977) worked as a Librarian at Raytheon Company in the Research Division (1955-1957) as well as at Babcock & Wilcox in the Atomic Energy Division (1957-1959).  Curran then worked as an Assistant at Arthur D. Little (1959-1960), then at Pickard & Burns, Inc. (1960-1962), then as a Research Assistant at Harvard Medical Library.  Curran served on the subcommittee for ANSI to establish a standard format for bibliographic control, and performed work with MARC at the Library of Congress as a consultant, identifying and organizing catalog data elements.
