Author Guidelines

Prospective authors should submit manuscripts through the online submission system at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jasist.

Types of manuscripts: Various contributions are considered for publication: full-length research articles (6,000-8,000 words), commissioned review articles (8,000-10,000 words, see ‘Advances in Information Science’ under ‘Overview: Aims & Scope’), occasional opinion papers (2,000-3000 words), brief communications (1,000-2,000 words), and letters to the editor.

Only articles that have not been published previously, that have not been submitted elsewhere, and that are not under review for another publication in any medium or forum should be submitted to JASIST. We do, however, encourage the submission of proceedings papers that have been expanded significantly. However, if any portion of the submission has appeared elsewhere, or in another language, the author must clearly indicate this in the text. The editors will assume that submission of an article to this journal implies that all the foregoing conditions are applicable. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication.

All materials submitted will be acknowledged on receipt and (except for letters) subject to (single-blind) peer review. Opinion papers may be sent for review at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. Copies of the referees’ comments will be forwarded to the submitting (or corresponding) author, along with the Editor-in-Chief’s decision.
