Travel Documentation Requirements
Before booking your flight, it is highly recommended that you review the documentation requirements needed to enter the USA. As a conference attendee, you are considered a "business visitor" in the United States. Most people will need a B-1 visa or may qualify for entry under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). More information and the application can be found on the U.S. Department of State website.
Not sure what documentation you need as a business visitor? Simply answer a few questions on the U.S. Department of State website to see what's right for you. When asked, "What do you plan to do in the United States?" be sure to select "attend a meeting, conference, or trade show."
If you must apply for a temporary non-immigrant visa to attend, you are advised to apply as soon as possible and no later than 3-4 months in advance. If you do need a visa, please understand that the visa application process may take several months. An interview appointment is required for a visa application at all embassies and consulates. The wait time for this appointment varies, but may be as long as three months, with processing taking an additional month or more. Please reach out if you require a visa letter. This can assist as a supporting document for your application.
Registration for the event and your visa letter cannot guarantee admittance into the U.S. and ASIS&T cannot intervene on behalf of any registrant.
