ChatGPT, Help Me Teach This Course: Empowering Higher Education with AI

This workshop explores how faculty can use ChatGPT to enhance research, teaching, and service. Through examples and hands-on activities, participants will learn prompt strategies, ethical considerations, and practical applications. The goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world use of ChatGPT in higher education work.

More about this Workshop

Advancements in AI and large language models like ChatGPT offer new ways to improve faculty work in research, teaching, and service. Since ChatGPT’s launch in 2022, its conversational abilities and human-like responses have supported academic tasks, yet many faculty members still lack training on its practical, ethical, and effective use. This workshop addresses that gap by providing hands-on guidance for applying ChatGPT to everyday academic work. Participants will explore prompt patterns, useful tips, and real-life examples tailored to faculty needs. The workshop aims to increase understanding of ChatGPT’s capabilities and promote its practical integration into professional tasks. Participants will gain experience using ChatGPT in their own contexts and have the opportunity to share insights with peers. By the end of the session, faculty will be better equipped to use ChatGPT in personalized ways, enhancing their academic efficiency and confidence while navigating ethical and privacy concerns in a thoughtful, informed manner.
