GUIDELINES FOR IN-PERSON POSTER PRESENTATIONS
- Posters will be assigned a poster number that will correspond with the listing on the ASIS&T website, in the conference agenda, and in the app. By mid-October, we will send you your poster number, and you will also be able to find it on the website.
- Look for your poster number mounted on your assigned board in the room.
- POSTER DISPLAY: You will mount your poster on your assigned board from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM on November 9, 2026. There will be one poster mounted per side of each board. The total board size is 1 m wide x 2 m high (3.28 ft wide x 6.56 ft high). Your poster should fit this size. You have the entire board to display your poster. Removable double-sided tape that leaves no residue will be provided for mounting your poster. The required layout is vertical.
- Your poster needs to be mounted and ready for viewing on November 9, 2026 by 10:00 AM. We are allowing posters to be viewed from 10:00 AM until the time the Poster Session begins at 5:45 PM. You do not need to be present during the viewing.
- At least one presenter needs to be in front of your poster not later than 5:30 PM to be ready to discuss your poster with attendees when the session begins at 5:45 PM.
- Ideally, your poster should be self-explanatory so that you are free to supplement and discuss particular points when asked. The Poster Session provides an opportunity for informal discussion, but this becomes more difficult if you are obliged to explain the basics of your poster to each viewer.
- You will need to remove your poster when the session concludes at 7:15 PM or it will be thrown out.
- Submissions must be unpublished original work.
POSTER LAYOUT
- The poster board surface area is 1 m wide x 2 m high (3.28 ft wide x 6.56 ft high), is designed for portrait/vertical poster display, and will include the poster number assigned to your poster.
- There will be one poster displayed per 1 m wide x 2 m high (3.28 ft wide x 6.56 ft high) side of each board. Ensure your poster will fit this board in vertical format.
- Important: Please note that the poster board dimensions differ from the standard poster sizes commonly used in North America. Be sure to review the specified dimensions carefully when preparing and printing your poster.
- Recommended poster size: A0, 84.1 cm wide x 118.9 cm high (33.1 x 46.8 inches).
- Maximum poster size: 95 cm wide x 190 cm high.
- Please ensure that your poster does not exceed the maximum dimensions above.
- For optimal readability, we recommend using a clear, visually engaging layout with concise text, appropriately sized figures and graphics, and sufficient white space. Posters should be easily readable from approximately 1–2 meters away.
- Identify your presentation by posting a lightweight sign at the top of your poster space, containing the number assigned to your poster, the title, and the name(s) of the author(s). The lettering for this section should be at least 1 inch high. You can print this information on your poster if you prefer.
- Photos of slides or hand-drawn charts and illustrations similar to slides may be individually arranged on the poster board surface using removable double-sided tape that leaves no residue. ASIS&T will provide this tape in the poster room, but please note that these supplies are shared by all presenters.
- You may also arrange your presentation on lightweight construction paper ahead of time and mount the whole layout with removable double-sided tape that leaves no residue.
- Prepare and bring with you all illustrations needed for your presentation, i.e., figures, tables, schemes, equations, etc.
TIPS ON PREPARING YOUR POSTER
- Bear in mind that your illustrations will be viewed from distances of 3 feet or more. All lettering should be at least 3/8 inch high, preferably in bold type.
- It helps the viewer if you can indicate (by numbers, letters, or arrows) a preferred sequence that might be followed in studying your material.
- Try to keep everything simple and avoid overly ornate presentations. Block coloring can be useful here to add emphasis and clarity. Preferably, captions should be brief and labels few but clear.
- A typical scientific poster may include:
- Title, authors, and affiliations
- Background/Introduction
- Research objectives or questions
- Methods
- Results/Findings
- Discussion/Implications
- Conclusions
- References and acknowledgments
- Contact information and/or QR code
We recommend a minimum body-text font size of 24 pt, with larger fonts used for headings and the poster title.
Please bring your poster fully printed and ready for display. Removable double-sided tape that leaves no residue will be provided for mounting your poster.
