More About this Symposium

This symposium focuses on advances in social media research, particularly in the context of Generative AI, through paper presentations. Submissions will be reviewed based on relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to the field. We anticipate selecting 6-8 papers that examine emerging issues in social media research such as AI-generated content and its impact on trust and authenticity, creator- and community-driven dynamics, shifting platform roles, and the integration of GenAI in content production and analysis.

Each paper will be presented in a 12-minute talk followed by a 5-minute Q&A.

Presentations will highlight empirical findings, methodological approaches, and implications for studying social media in rapidly evolving environments shaped by generative AI and platform changes.

A moderated panel with selected authors will synthesize key themes, followed by a Best Paper Award, Best Runner-Ups 1 and 2, and a networking segment to support collaboration and future research.
