Visit to the Thompson Memorial Library at Ohio State

Save-the-date for an extraordinary visit to the Thompson Memorial Library at The Ohio State University. Associate Professor Wes Boomgaarden will be our guide for a tour through the magnificent Main Library at Ohio State. As the Thompson Library Renovation Officer since 2000, his inside knowledge and perspective make this a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Designed in the Second Italian Renaissance Revival style, the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, also known as the Main Library, originally opened in 1913. The renovation to the Thompson Library — the “centerpiece” of a plan to move Ohio State into the forefront of academic excellence — is now complete after three years of construction and over a decade of planning. Housing significant print collections, digital information resources, spaces for individual study, and areas for interactive group learning, the building’s original, unique architectural features have now been restored to their original grandeur.WHEN: Friday, December 4, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.*
