Urgent Message from your Executive Director – Annual Meeting 2025
Hello everyone,
I am recording this message from Okinawa, Japan where I am visiting my family for a few days. I did not want to let more time go by without letting you all know that ASIS&T stands ready to support you in presenting at the Annual Meeting in every way possible.
We recognize that the current environment, which distresses those of us in the US every bit as much as it distresses those of you outside the US, may make it undesirable or even impossible to attend the Annual Meeting in person. For this reason, we have created a pathway for virtual presentation at the satellite Annual Meeting to be held December 10.
But we also recognize that there is much uncertainty about how the world will look in November vs. today. You may be thinking you just won’t bother submitting a proposal because you don’t know if you will want to or be able to attend.
I want to encourage you to submit your proposals regardless of whether or not you’re sure you can attend at this moment. We recognize this is a complete change from our previous policy and will require some juggling on our part once the acceptances are issued. But again, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to participate, either in person or virtually, as we can.
The submission deadline is April 9. If you need an additional 24-48 hours to get your proposal in given this message, please email me directly at lmiddleton@asist.org. We will address requests on a case-by-case basis. If you are unsure whether you want to be there in person or not, please submit for an in-person presentation and we will confirm that once acceptances are issued.
I do hope that you will be interested in participating and sharing your research in spite of the challenging times we are all experiencing.
Please email me with any questions. I am in Asia until Monday but will respond as quickly as I can.
All the best,
Lydia
