How should IR and IS be reoriented to accommodate information seeking and searching through ubiquitous, wearable, and subtle devices? What indeed are documents when search is implicit and embedded in other activities such as our navigating mixed-reality worlds?

Sachi Arafat
Sachi Arafat is Assistant Professor of Data Science at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia. He was previously a Royal Academy of Engineering Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow where he worked on Quantum-theory inspired approaches to Information Retrieval under Keith van Rijsbergen. He works on philosophical and mathematical foundations of IR.

 

 

 

 

Elham Ashoori
Elham Ashoori (PhD, Queen Mary University of London) is a data scientist at Conduent, UK. Her work focuses onĀ  developing machine learning and NLP solutions addressing the Legal and Compliance sector. Before joining Conduent she spent 5 years as a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London. Her research interests include advances in deep learning, progress in science-like disciplines and explainable AI.
