SIG-AH

SIG-AH Chair Ann Graff has been invited to give the keynote address to the Pakistan Librarian Welfare Organization’s 2nd International Conference “Transformation of Knowledge Repository into Knowledge Economy” to be held September 15-16. Congratulations, Ann!

SIG-DL

The SIG-DL annual newsletter report is now available here. We are introducing a new section in our newsletter called  'SIG-DL Member's Column'. The September theme is 'Digital Ethics and Copyright Issues in LIS context' (500 words). Any SIG-DL members interested in contributing to our next newsletter, please do so. We look forward to your short article.

SIG-DL is launching Project Hindas, which Provides a platform and assistance for upcoming IS/LIS practitioners (PhDs) to look for
mentors in the ASIS&T or SIG-DL community and other industries from the multicultural diverse and cross-country community with similar research interests and backgrounds to build a fruitful collaboration and research project opportunities beneficial for both the Mentor and the Mentee. Mentors and Mentees interested in joining the HINDAS project please contact the one of the SIG-DL Executive Officers via emails listed here.

SIG-DL is looking for officers for 2022-2023. Please contact Jelina Haines if you are interested.

 

SIG-III

The summer issue of the SIG-III Newsletter for 2022 is now available. This issue features on some exciting initiatives this year taken by ASIS&T SIG-III, like Flipped Panel, Research Wing, Guest Speaker Series, Café International Meet, Reimagining InfoShare Program etc. As SIG-III has turned 40 this year, we very much look forward to receiving your good thoughts, experiences and ideas regarding your involvement with ASIS&T SIG-III. SIG-KM

We are preparing the summer newsletter of SIG-KM. All of you are more than welcome to contribute to the newsletter and send the material to Dr. Darra Hofman (darra.hofman@gmail.comdarra.hofman@sjsu.edu), such as personal academic achievements (papers, projects, prizes, conference presentation, promotions, etc.), introduction to KM books, journals, conferences, researchers,and papers, job information, and so forth. SIG-MET

The METRICS 2022, the ASIS&T Virtual Workshop on Infometrics and Scientometrics Research, organizing committee has decided to extend the deadline to submit your abstracts till August 5th. Looking forward to your submissions. Please find workshop and submission information here. Submissions are due Friday, August 5th, 2022 EDT.

 

SIG-SM

Call for Social Media Research Competition
The Social Media Research Competition recognizes three high-quality long and short papers in a peer-reviewed journal or conference (e.g., ASIST, iConference, CSCW, CHI) on a topic informed by social media during the current and previous year (e.g. 2021 and 2022 for the 2022 award). This process includes two steps. First, authors nominate their papers for the competition by September 1, 2022 via the application form. These papers will be evaluated by a committee of social media experts. Second, top-3 authors will be invited to present their paper(s) at the SIG Social Media (SM) Workshop. Out of the top-3 authors, the committee of social media experts selects three authors for the winner ($200), runner-up ($150), and honorable mention ($100). The Awards are sponsored and administered by the SIG SM Awards Committee. At least one author must register and be present at the SIG SM workshop to receive the award. SIG-USE/European Joint Social Hour 9/12
Our upcoming social hour is a joint event with the European Chapter on Monday 9/12 3-4pm British ST; 4-5pm Central European ST; 9-10am Central Time (US) 10-11am ET (US) and the theme is "Stories from our USE research." More information and the Zoom link can be found under the events tab in iConnect.

Virtual Symposium - We need your help organizing, promoting, and reviewing submissions
We also need your help in organizing, promoting, and reviewing submissions for our upcoming SIG-USE Virtual Symposium on "The Human Side of Information." Please reach out via our siguse gmail account if you would like to help organize the symposium or review papers. We also need/welcome your submissions!!
