Major news from 2017

In celebrating the ASIS&T 80th Annual Meeting, it is particularly poignant to reflect on the passing this spring of two luminaries in our field, especially for our group: Robert “Dr. Bob” Williams (1938-2017) and Eugene Garfield (1925-2017). We thank the ASIS&T Board of Directors for acknowledging the legacy of Dr. Robert V. Williams in renaming the Bob Williams History Fund, and invite our members and readers to consider submitting their research for these annual awards.

The ASIST 80th Anniversary Advisory Group invites you to an invited panel discussion and social celebration on October 29th in Washington, D.C., where members are hosting an initiative to capture people’s “Favorite ASIS&T Story.” If you’ve got a story to tell and want to arrange for a specific time, please contact Kathryn La Barre. Additionally, participants are invited to visit the ASIST Gallery and tag images with incomplete or missing metadata. Contact Kathryn La Barre if you want to volunteer to help, have an image you would like to tag, or have any questions about this initiative.
