CCAD Packard Library tour

The Columbus College of Art and Design’s Packard Library will host an open house and tour of the library and its collections. The event will include a presentation about the history of the library, an introduction to some artist prints and portfolios located in special collections, and conclude with a brief tour. Visitors are also welcome to view the Materials Library and extensive Zine Collection.
Officially begun in 1934 and now located on the lower level of the Canzani Center, the Packard Library serves as a central location for both students and faculty to study, collaborate, research, and relax. The library collection provides current information through over 55,000 books, 275 journal subscriptions, exhibition catalogs, and electronic resources.  Also included via special collections is a Materials Library, rare books, artists’ books and the archives. The library also plays a major role in providing classroom instruction for both introductory and graduate-level courses. Packard Library is a member of both OPAL and OhioLINK; and continues to expand its online resources as evidenced by its recent subscription to the Bloomsbury Design Library. The Packard Library staff is committed to lifelong learning, fostering collaboration, and sparking inspiration among the CCAD community.
The event will be hosted by archivist Chloe Kie, special collections librarian Chris Mannix, and library director Leslie Jankowski. Chloe is the newest member of the staff, arriving in May 2017 to provide further organization and structure to to the Packard archives. She is from Pittsburgh, where she earned her MLS at the University of Pittsburgh. Christine Mannix is responsible for the continued maintenance and preservation of special collections materials, as well as provides classroom instruction and support. Leslie Jankowski has been at the Packard Library for ten years and became director during the last two. She earned her MLS from Kent State University.
