Call for ASIS&T 2021 Annual Meeting Chairs/Co-Chairs for Paper, Panels, and Posters, Communications Chair, and Conference Chair Assistants

The theme of the ASIS&T 2021 Annual Meeting is:

Information: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Justice, and Relevance.


In the spirit of this theme and to promote its elements, you are encouraged to apply for the following ASIS&T 2021 Annual Meeting conference positions. If you know of others who might be interested or who would be good at the job, please encourage them to apply.

There are positions appropriate for all levels of experience.

  • Paper Chair / Co-Chairs
    • Role: Recruit and assign reviewers to submissions; Make decisions on submissions; Organize the accepted submissions into sessions; other supporting tasks. The ballpark workload is about 200 submissions of both long and short papers.
    • Qualifications: Senior Assistant Professor (equivalent) or above, preferably with some conference committee or journal experience
    • Number of positions: 2
    • Notes: Can apply as a team of two (would be great to have one senior and one junior person) or individually; selection to be made by Conference Chair

  • Poster Chair / Co-Chairs
    • Role: Recruit and assign reviewers to submissions; Make decisions on submissions; other supporting tasks. The ballpark workload is about 100 submissions.
    • Qualifications: Senior Assistant Professor (equivalent) or above, preferably with some conference committee or journal experience
    • Number of positions: 2
    • Notes: Can apply as a team of two (would be great to have one senior and one junior person) or individually; selection to be made by Conference Chair

  • Panel & Alternative Events Chair / Co-Chairs

    • Qualifications: Assistant Professor (equivalent) or above, preferably with some conference committee or journal experience
    • Number of positions: 2
    • Notes: Can apply as a team of two (would be great to have one senior and one junior person) or individually; selection to be made by Conference Chair

  • Industry Series Chair / Co-Chairs:
    • Role: Organize one or more panels targeted at industry and practitioners: recruit panelists; other supporting tasks.
    • Qualifications: Assistant Professor (equivalent) or above, preferably with some conference committee or journal experience
    • Number of positions: 2
    • Notes: Can apply as a team of two (would be great to have one senior and one junior person) or individually; selection to be made by Conference Chair

  • Communications Chair:
    • Role: Quality control on conference communications; re-work author instructions and messages concerning submissions; work closely with the Conference Chair and ASIS&T staff.
    • Qualifications: Communication experience and desire to improve the ASIS&T conference email, website, and submission system communications. Preferably someone that is going to submit a paper to the conference.
    • Notes: Selection to be made by Conference Chair

  • Conference Chair Assistants
    • Role:  Assist the Conference Chair in a range of conference-related tasks and activities before, during, and immediately after the conference. Excellent opportunity to get some conference management experience and get to know folks in the field.
    • Qualifications: senior Ph.D. students; must attend the ASIS&T 2021 conference
    • Number of positions: 2
    • Notes: Selection to be made by Conference Chair
