Call for Applications: ARIST Editor-in-Chief

The Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) invites applicants for the role of Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Review of Information Science & Technology (ARIST).

ARIST is a collection of systematic reviews published over a calendar year. The goal of ARIST is to update readers on the latest developments in the broad field of information science and technology through systematic, comprehensive reviews of selected topics. The high-quality reviews will be a powerful tool for researchers inquiring into these topics. Each year, 8-10 rigorous and complete review articles will be published, each approximately 12,000-15,000 words, with a full and complete bibliography of reviewed sources.

ARIST supports the vision of ASIS&T. It encompasses all aspects of the personal, social, political, and economic processes of information science and technology. It aims to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed, systematic review articles which advance knowledge about information, its creation, properties, and use; to provide analysis of ideas, practices, and technologies; to value theory, research, applications, and service; to nurture new perspectives, interests, and ideas; to increase public awareness of the information sciences and technologies, their social impact and their benefits to society. Sample topics include but are not limited to:

  • Paradigms and methods in knowledge representation
  • Social networks and online communities
  • Information retrieval in the era of misinformation
  • Metadata analytics: history and state-of-the-art
  • Curating research data for reproducibility and replicability
  • Digital scholarship
  • Participatory movement in information communities
  • Roles of information and technology in fostering equity and social justice

The successful Editor-in-Chief is an engaged scholar in the field of information science and technology, who will possess outstanding writing, editing, and creative skills, along with demonstrated planning, organizational and delegation abilities.
