SIG-USE (Information Needs, Seeking & Use)

SIG USE is going to have our May social hour on May 19, 2023, 2 - 3 pm EDT. This month's social hour, "Secrets and Taboos of Information Behaviour," is hosted by Professor Jenna Hartel. She will share several secrets and taboos related to the Information Behaviour area of Information Science. The theme will be approached in a positive and fun spirit and aim to develop knowledge, trust, and friendship within SIG-USE. (To be clear, the conversation is not meant to be gossipy or malicious and naturally what's revealed won't be considered "facts"!) Everyone is invited to come and listen and to offer your own experiences or observations of anything that is mostly unspoken within our research area and community. In a way, May's social hour reflects Marcia Bates' (1999) concept of an "invisible substrate" or "things that lurk below the water line" of any academic discipline.
