From Your Executive Director, May 2026

Greetings colleagues,
ASIS&T is buzzing with activity this season, and I’m excited to share several important updates.
Our call for Board of Directors nominations (due June 1) has generated more responses than ever before. This record‑setting level of engagement speaks volumes about the passion and dedication of our members. The Nominating Committee will be reviewing these submissions carefully and will present a slate by the end of June, with elections to follow in July. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who is stepping forward.
We are also preparing to gather for the ISS/SLC conference next week in Albuquerque, where we are so excited to personally welcome so many new members. Introducing them to the ASIS&T community—its energy, its generosity, its intellectual rigor—is one of the great joys of this role.
Our second wave of ASIS&T Awards juries are finalizing their decisions, and we anticipate announcing the winners in late June. These awards shine a light on the individuals and teams who are advancing our field in meaningful ways. Meanwhile, many congratulations to the winners of the John Cotton Dana Award – John DiGilio, and the James M. Matarazzo Rising Star Award – Erin Gray, Dilhani Munasinghe, and Lingzi Hong.
If you are planning to submit a poster, or apply for the Doctoral Colloquium or Early Career Colloquium, please remember that June 4 is the deadline. These programs are essential pathways for emerging scholars and practitioners, and we look forward to seeing your work.
I’m thrilled to share that Annual Meeting submissions this far have reached a record high this year. This extraordinary response reflects the vitality of our field and sets the stage for a truly exceptional meeting.
And finally, I want to take a moment to share an important update regarding membership dues. Beginning July 1, ASIS&T will implement a modest dues increase. This adjustment reflects the financial realities of sustaining and expanding the programs, services, and member support that our community values. Members who renew on time will enjoy one more year at the current rate, so I encourage you to renew before July 1 if you wish to take advantage of the existing pricing. We remain committed to ensuring that ASIS&T membership continues to deliver exceptional value.
Thank you for your continued commitment to ASIS&T. Together, we are building something vibrant, inclusive, and forward‑looking.
ALl the best, Lydia
