Kirasur to Receive the 2026 Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship

The Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) is delighted to announce that Nayana Kirasur is the recipient of the 2026 Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship Award. The award’s purpose is to foster research in information science by recognizing the year’s most outstanding doctoral dissertation proposal while encouraging and assisting doctoral students in the field with their dissertation research. Kirasur’s proposal is titled, “Tracing Documents through Information Infrastructures of Welfare Governance in India”.

Kirasur is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Communication, Information, and Media at the Rutgers School of Communication and Information in New Jersey, US, and is advised by Britt S. Paris. She holds an M.A. in Media and Cultural Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, India, and holds her B.A. in Psychology, English and Communication Studies from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore University.

In supporting Kirasur’s application, her advisor Britt S. Paris, emphasized that Nayana has “resoundingly demonstrated that she is an excellent thinker, writer, and scholar” and that “receiving the scholarship award would be helpful for her to execute her research, analysis, and writing for her dissertation.”

Upon learning of her selection as winner of the Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship Award, Kirasur responded, “I thank the scholarship jury and the board of directors at ASIS&T for the selecting my dissertation proposal for the Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship Award. I am very grateful to my advisor, Dr. Britt Paris, and the community at Rutgers University for their support. It is doubly exciting that this recognition comes as the ASIS&T Annual Meeting is being held in Asia for the first time. I'm truly honored and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the research and the community at ASIS&T."

Kirasur will receive the award during the 2026 meeting of ASIS&T which will be held 6-10 November 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
