Chapter News, August 2026

Africa Chapter:

The Africa Chapter proudly presents its new logo, designed by Muhammad Tariq, a member of the ASIS&T South Asia Chapter. There were four qualifying submissions (from paid-up ASIS&T members), and Muhammad's logo received the most votes. Congratulations, Muhammad, on designing the Chapter's intellectual property for its identity, which will be used in all its official communications and branding materials.

Europe Chapter:

From June 25-26, the ASIS&T European Chapter's Information Science Trends 2026 (IST26) conference brought together researchers and information professionals for two days of networking, discussion, and knowledge sharing on emerging trends in information science. Following a conference dinner on June 25, attendees gathered on June 26 for a full day of presentations exploring topics such as artificial intelligence, information behavior, digital preservation, academic libraries, political communication, and cultural heritage.

Middle East Chapter:

The Middle East Chapter hosted the Webinar, "Multispecies Information Science: An Empathetic Vision for Peaceful Coexistence" in July.

US Northeast Chapter (NEASIST):

NEASIS&T enjoyed connecting with attendees and sharing information about the chapter at the ASIS&T 2026 Information Science Summit & Special Libraries Conference (ISS/SLC26) in Albuquerque in June. Much appreciation to everyone who stopped by the table during the breaks to learn more about NEASIST and to get candy. And thank you to chair-elect, Michele Costello, for organizing our presence at the conference. There was a raffle drawing too for a New Mexico-themed snack basket.  Congratulations to the lucky raffle winner, Rebecca Stallworth! Pictures from the tabling can be found on the NEASIST website.

NEASIST also hosted a Webinar titled "How does Information Literacy in the First Language Contribute to the Development of Information Literacy in the Second Language?" in June and "This Survey is Anonymous" : LIS Survey Demographics and Reidentification Risk" on August 13.

US South Chapter:

The US South Chapter hosted a "Meet and Greet" event in July.
