The US Northeast Chapter (NEASIS&T) is thrilled to announce the 2025 recipients of our Conference Support Award, which supports participation in the ASIS&T 2025 Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held in Washington D.C. from November 14-18, 2025.

The award aims to support scholarship and connect research and practice by bringing new voices to the chapter. The award will cover a year-long membership in ASIS&T, conference registration for the 2025 ASIS&T Annual Meeting, and enrollment fees for pre/post-meeting workshops and tutorials, up to a total reimbursement limit of $1000 per recipient.

Mildred Adwubi Bonsu (University at Albany)

Mildred Bonsu

Mildred Adwubi Bonsu is a second-year PhD student in Information Science at the University at Albany, SUNY, concentrating in Information Assurance. Her research focuses on cybersecurity and regulatory compliance in critical infrastructure. She is a Research Assistant with the HackIoT Lab and the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Lab at the University’s College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity (CEHC). With ten years of professional experience in IT and security, she began her career as an IT Officer, advanced to become Head of IT in a financial institution, and later served as a Manager at the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-GH) within the Cybersecurity Authority of Ghana. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI). Her academic and professional background informs her work on advancing cybersecurity regulation and compliance in critical infrastructure. She is excited to present at the 2025 ASIS&T Annual Meeting and make new connections.

Uhjin Sim (University of Maryland)

Sim Uhjin

Uhjin Sim is a second-year Ph.D. student in Information Studies at the University of Maryland College of Information. Her research explores the intersection of humans (learners), technology (tools and environments), and design (implementation and practice). With a background in education and the learning sciences, she is now expanding into information studies to better understand how people learn about, interact with, and critically engage with technology, particularly advanced tools such as generative AI. She holds a B.A. in Education and English Education from Korea University and an M.A. in Learning Engineering from Boston College. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked for over four years as an instructional designer and educator. At the core of her work is a commitment to designing learning experiences that are meaningful, inclusive, and critically attuned to the technologies shaping our lives.

Dwi Puspita Sari (University at Albany) 

Sari DwiDwi Puspita Sari is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Information Science at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity at the University at Albany, State University of New York. Within her doctoral studies, she specialized primarily in Information, Government, and Democratic Society and secondarily in Data Analytics. Her research interests include open data and open government, digital government, and artificial intelligence. Alongside her doctoral studies, Dwi serves as a research assistant at the Center for Technology in Government at the University at Albany, where she contributes to projects examining the adoption and implementation of technology in public sector organizations. She holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, with concentrations in Data Analytics and Information Technology Project Management. Before pursuing a doctoral degree at the University at Albany, she worked as the publication and data
dissemination coordinator at the Statistics Management Unit, Department of Communication,
Informatics, and Statistics of DKI Jakarta Province. In addition, she gained experience as a data
analyst for the One Data for Indonesia pilot project under the Executive Office of the President
of the Republic of Indonesia.

Dimaz Cahya Ardhi (University at Albany)

Ardhi DimazDimaz Ardhi is a Ph.D. candidate in Information Science at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity (CEHC) at the University at Albany, State University of New York. His doctoral studies focus primarily on Information Assurance, with a secondary specialization in Data Analytics. His research interests include cybersecurity across all levels of government as well as open data and open government data. Alongside his doctoral studies, Dimaz serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Cybersecurity at CEHC, where he supports the Department Chair with administrative responsibilities. He also represents the college as a Graduate Ambassador at departmental and university events. Dimaz holds a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Johnson & Wales University, where his work emphasized machine learning and natural language processing.

Elaine Kong (University of Pittsburgh)

Elaine KongElaine Kong (she/her) is a PhD student in Library and Information Science at the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh. Her research explores how cancer survivors in underserved communities seek and evaluate online health information, particularly about Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). She is also interested in designing culturally sensitive information systems that support informed decision-making and help mitigate misinformation in digital health communication.

These awardees were selected based on their outstanding contributions and potential in the field of information science. We are excited to support their professional development and look forward to their participation in NEASIS&T and the upcoming ASIS&T Annual Meeting.
