Webinar: Budgeting 101

What, I have to create a budget?! Panelists will provide an introduction to the basics of creating a budget. It is meant for new librarians and info pros as well as experienced professionals who find themselves in charge of budgeting.

Jessie Abraham
Jessie Abraham is the Research & Knowledge Systems Analyst at Fish & Richardson. Jessie has over 15 years of experience working in legal and library science professions as a litigation research paralegal turned librarian. She has worked in both public and law libraries, managing collections, budgets, acquisitions, and resource contracts. She received her BA in political science from the University of Detroit Mercy and her MLIS with a focus on special and digital libraries from Wayne State University. Jessie is a native of the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, where she and her husband are raising their three children and lazy labradoodle, Dug.

Kristen Coulas
Chief Librarian of the Canadian Army Library, Kristen’s work focusses on materials regarding the past and future of the Canadian Army. Kristen was born and raised in Canada but completed her MLIS at University College Dublin in Ireland where she graduated with top honours. Throughout her career, she has worked in academic and governmental libraries including Library and Archives Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. Curiosity has always driven Kristen’s interest in information science and indeed, her life. In her off time, Kristen can usually be found learning a new skill or lovingly info dumping on her friends and family.

Julie Smith Maekask
As the law librarian at Eastman & Smith, Julie's professional mission is finding information people need to do their jobs. She has worked in public, academic, school and special libraries throughout her career in both professional and paraprofessional capacities. Degrees include an MSLS and bachelor’s in business from PennWest Clarion and a certificate in data science from IBM/Coursera. A 30 year member of SLA, Julie currently is a director of SLA. During the summer Julie endeavors to humanely thwart animals' shenanigans in her garden (with varying levels of success).
