Dr. Kawanna M. Bright, PhD, MLIS, BA
Dr. Kawanna M. Bright (she/her) is Associate Professor of Library Science at East Carolina University. Dr. Bright earned her PhD in Research Methods and Statistics from the University of Denver. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Bright worked as an academic librarian for twelve years, with a focus on reference, instructional services, and information literacy. She earned her MLIS from the University of Washington iSchool. Her current research focuses on assessment in libraries; the application of research methodology to the study of library and information science; recruitment and retention in LIS, and the liaison librarianship role in academic libraries. Dr. Bright currently teaches courses on research methods, academic libraries, community engagement, and technology in libraries. She endeavors to provide students with real-world, practical experiences and the confidence and knowledge needed for successful postgraduate careers.
