From Your Executive Director, November 2025
Greetings friends and colleagues,
As we wrap up another remarkable year for ASIS&T, I’m delighted to share several exciting updates that speak to the incredible momentum and growth of our community.
A Record-Breaking Annual Meeting
Our 2025 Annual Meeting in Crystal City promises to be one for the books—with record attendance nearing 600 participants! I cannot wait to see so many members, new and returning, come together to exchange ideas, celebrate achievements, and explore the future of the information sciences.
Looking Ahead to the Virtual Annual Meeting
For those unable to join us in Crystal City, the upcoming Virtual Annual Meeting will offer an outstanding opportunity to engage with the same high-quality presentations and participate in virtual networking sessions. Whether you’re joining us in person or online, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, and contribute to the ongoing growth of our field. It’s not too late to register!
Expanding Access Through Technology
We will offer live Zoom streaming of both the keynote session and the Business Meeting, ensuring that members who can’t attend in person are still able to participate in these cornerstone events. This hybrid approach will continue to enhance accessibility and inclusivity across our global membership. Click the links below to access the session at the designated times.

Strong Financial Stewardship
ASIS&T’s fiscal year 2025 audit is nearly complete, and the results will be presented at the Business Meeting. We’re pleased to report that our financial health remains strong, allowing us to continue investing in programs and initiatives that advance the mission of ASIS&T and deliver value to our members.
Moving Forward Together: The SLA Merger
Another major milestone this year is the near completion of our merger with the Special Libraries Association (SLA). The transition has been progressing smoothly. The SLA Scholarship Fund has officially been transferred to ASIS&T, ensuring continued support for students and early- to mid-career professionals. SIGs and Chapters are in active discussions on how to best merge and collaborate, while new communities are emerging—such as DMV (Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia), Northern California, Military Librarians, and Engineering groups. These exciting developments signal a bright, collaborative future for our expanded organization.
Strategic Vision
Please take the time to download and review the 2025-28 ASIS&T Strategic Plan. The plan outlines our direction for the next three years and beyond and we are eager to engage as many members as possible in its execution.
I look forward to seeing many of you (nearly 20% of our membership!) in Crystal City next week. If you can’t make it, I hope to see you online soon!
Warm regards,
Lydia Middleton
Executive Director, ASIS&T
