Webinar: From Manuscript to Publication – Writing, Reviewing, and Ethical AI Use

This webinar will provide information about the usability of AI. How to maintain the originality of a manuscript? The session will cover key steps in writing a scholarly publication, including the literature review, methodology, questionnaire preparation, data mining/cleaning, development, and citation and referencing. How can AI become a barrier to publication, including common reasons of rejection due to misuse of AI? The common reasons for AI rejection. Should AI be used for language or grammar correction? Ethical concerns such as plagiarism, fabricated references, bias, and transparency in AI use will also be discussed, including appropriate ways to acknowledge AI assistance in the methodology or acknowledgement sections of research papers. It will include the peer-review process and how AI can be useful for addressing the comment.

Naresh Agarwal
Naresh Agarwal is a Professor and Director of the Information Science & Technology Concentration at the School of Library and Information Science at Simmons University, Boston. He earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS)'s Department of Information Systems, School of Computing. Naresh's research area is information behaviour and knowledge management. His first book, 'Exploring Context in Information Behaviour,' was published in 2018. His second book was published in 2021 as 'Engineering to Ikigai' in South Asia and 'You know the glory, not the story' internationally. He has been a keynote/invited speaker in several countries, including Bangladesh, France, India, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, the UK, and the US. Naresh is a Past President of ASIS&T. In 2012, he was awarded the ASIS&T James M. Cretsos Leadership Award. In 2018, he started a project onenessworld.com to gather human stories through interviews.
